This innovative two-year course of study enhances the knowledge and skills of clinicians. Clinical and theoretical seminars promote the acquisition of a comprehensive foundation in psychoanalytic ideas. Although distinct from the Psychoanalytic Training Program, most of the courses are taught by our faculty.

Admission Requirements

The program is open to all applicants who hold a current license to practice and to interns who practice under the auspices of a licensed supervisor. Psychiatric residents must have completed their first post- graduate year of training. For the highly qualified non-licensed applicant, occasional exceptions are made on a case by case basis. Applicants are interviewed by members of the Psychotherapy Steering Committee.

Structure

Seminars meet Wednesday, 7 - 10 p.m., from September to June. In the first year, seminars examine the essential aspects of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The second year curriculum provides a comprehensive survey of human development and the evolution of psychoanalytic theory.

Case consultative sessions are offered in addition to the seminars. Emphasis is placed on the use of clinical material for heuristic purposes, rather than ongoing supervision. For an additional fee, students can augment the group consultation with individual consultation.

Annual Total:	$2,000

Payment of $1000.00 is due at enrollment and before each subsequent semester. Tuition includes group consultation.

Privileges

Students may use the Alexander-Simmel Library, a collection of psychoanalytic research material - journals, books, audio tapes, film and the PEP web archive. The library includes all basic readings required for the seminars.

Students are invited to all Center activities. Graduates of this program are eligible to become affiliate members of the New Center.
